Description of the area
In terms of buildings, the industrial area of Suur-Holm is mainly characterised by production buildings: garages-workshops, other production buildings, mechanic workshops, production warehouses, and a fish factory. They are mainly involved in manufacturing, equipment maintenance, food processing, and fuel oil storage. As the Greater Holm area will be turned mostly into a residential area in the future, it is likely that residential development will be encouraged there in line with tourism developments. Tourism development and -orientation may mean that industrial development is neglected, as the location makes it a more attractive residential and tourist area than an industrial area. It is also difficult to expand industry in the area due to the lack of space.
